Research Assistants and Research Coordinators

At this time, the Lavender Lab will not be recruiting undergraduate or master’s-level research assistants for the Fall 2025 semester due to limited team capacity. However, you are welcome to submit an application, which may be considered for potential openings in Spring 2026.

What are you looking for in research assistant candidates?

We are committed to creating a research team and environment that is safe from discrimination and oppression of all forms, including but not limited to: racism, anti-Blackness, heterosexism, cissexism, sexism, xenophobia, colorism, ableism, fatphobia, and classism. At every opportunity, we seek to acknowledge our varying intersectional identities and foster critical conversations regarding the social identities and social privileges we may hold. We ask that future members of our team are similarly committed to creating a diverse, inclusive research environment. We especially encourage and invite candidates from traditionally marginalized backgrounds to apply to join our lab.

RA applicants who have experience working in or conducting research with LGBTQ and BIPOC communities from culturally humility, intersectionality, and social justice approaches will be given strongest consideration. Ideal applicants are motivated, eager to learn, able to work independently but seek consultation when needed, able to manage time and multiple tasks, and detail-oriented.

How can I apply to join the Lavender Lab?

We are not currently hiring Research Assistants for the Fall 2025 semester. However, applicants interested in working in our lab for Spring 2026 should fill out the Lavender Lab Research Assistant Application, linked below.

If you are interested in working in the lab in a future semester, we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible, as applications will be accepted until RA positions are filled.

What will working in the Lavender Lab look like?

Undergraduate and Master’s Research assistant positions in the Lavender Lab are volunteer positions. Some Undergraduate RAs may receive course credit through PSYC479. Federal work study may be a possibility if an applicant already has federal work study as part of their financial aid package.

New Undergraduate and Master’s RAs must commit to working a minimum of 2 semesters at a minimum of 8 hours per week. More hours may be required if an RA is obtaining course credit.
